An analysis of the apparent inability of the UK government and MI6 to write documents in “Plain English”, in a manner that is easily understandable and not liable to misinterpretation. It is argued, in the light of the convoluted use of the English language that has been revealed by the Hutton enquiry, that perhaps MI6 report writers should return to school in order to learn how to write in an easily intelligible manner.
